Wine is one of the most stable alcohol categories in terms of size of audience (penetration). Together with Beer (lager) and rakiya it remains top beverage, though all show gradual decline.
Smaller categories (gin, rum, cognac, tequila) show modest growth, reflecting interest in specialty and craft spirits.
When analyzing the three biggest categories (beer, wine and rkiya) it is intereting to pointout that fewer people consume all three; more are becoming exclusive drinkers of one type.
Wine-only drinkers are mostly women, younger people, and capital residents, while multi-category consumers are men, middle-aged, in larger cities.
All main still wine types (red, white, rosé) increased slightly in consumption last year.
Purchase frequency of wine increased (from 20.8 to 24.9 times/year in 2025). Consumption weight (number of glasses/month) decreased (from 21.0 to 17.3), suggesting lighter or more moderate drinking.
Global Wine Trends Reflected in 2025:

  • Sustainability → eco-friendly packaging, organic production.
  • Mindful drinking → low/no-alcohol options growing.
  • Premiumisation → quality and authenticity over brand name.
  • Climate adaptation → new grape varieties and regions.
  • Alternative packaging → bag-in-box, cans, paper bottles.
  • Digital engagement → AR labels, online tastings.
  • Lighter wine styles → fresher, more drinkable wines.
